And the total is...

Wow. And I mean WOW!

We didn't have quite as many people as it sounded like we were going to have.

We had a TON of food leftover.

We had 150 auction items.

I was nervous we wouldn't sell them all! (I think only 4 or 5 things didn't sell).

HUGE thanks to: Todd, Stephanie, Tyler and Elizabeth Flath (Tyler, 13, Elizabeth, 10 and a few friends of theirs raised $561.00 for Linda by colelcting cans and bottles, selling cookies, and having lemonade stands.)

To Jeff and Dawn, and their 4 kids Steph's brother and sister in law who helped the entire time at the benefit, made a TON of baked goods, and just helped out all around.

To Angie and Kevin Ayriss, for coordinating and handling the auction, for her brother and sister in law, Jeff and Allison, for staying the whole time, too...we couldn't have had success without any of you.

To Scott and Janet Dekkinga, for ALL your help, for Scott's brother and sister in law Mark and Laurie for staying the entire time and helping so much!!

To Megan Stewart who was not asked to help, but came prepared to do so anyway. For staying the entire time, for helping people check out at the auction...

For everyone else who I didn't get to personally meet but helped out...to all those who came and supported Linda....For businesses like Subway, and Costco for donating food and cake, for all the people who donated food, made baked goods, donated stuff for the auction...To other businesses who gave: Red Robin, Applebee's, Texas Roadhouse, Bonefish Grill, Southalnd Auto Wash, there's a ton more, but just know you helped raise an enourmous sum of money to help Linda.

OH...do you want to know how much????

Okay, I hope you're sitting down.

Including what is already in her account, but NOT including the few auction items that have to be paid for yet, the total amount raised thus far is.....(drumroll please)..........

$10,200.00

Yes, I'm serious. So that means at the actual benefit, we raised over $8000.00.

Just know from the bottom of my heart whether you contributed in dollars, in prayers, in time, in donation, or all of the above, I am grateful for every single one of you, and I am most grateful to God who answers exceedingly above and beyond all I could have asked or imagined for my very best friend.

Now we just keep praying for a cure. Linda looked beautiful if you weren't there...I think she had a pretty good day...seeing lots of family and friends both old and new.

Thanks again...and God bless you all!

Tomorrow!

Good morning!

Tomorrow is the big day!! Everything has come together so well...thanks to ALL of you who are praying, who donated stuff, who are helping at the benefit...we needed every one of you! Those of you who are praying, please keep doing so...that everyone travels safely, that lots of people show up, and that Linda has a wonderful time and we meet her needs financially.

Thanks again...
God Bless, and SEE YOU TOMORROW!!

Well, we did it. We have 118 confirmed items for auction.

WELL....be careful what you wish for. We have 97 items!!! I am floored. God is so good. He cares about even the littlest details.

Check the list for the update items. There were a few corrections made to other posts as well. Here are some additional bids:

Benefit details

Hi again!

Someone asked that I put all the details of the benefit on the blog, which is a very good idea!!
SO:

The benefit for Linda Tacoma, fighting Stage IV endometrial cancer, is this Saturday, August 16, from 1-5 PM at Rush Creek Bible Church, 2334 76th St (on the corner of 76th street and Byron Center Avenue) in Byron Center, MI. There will be a light lunch for $3.00, a baked goods sale, and a silent auction, with 88 items to bid on! The items are posted on this blog as well. The auction will end at 4:15 to award the high bidders their items. IF YOU ARE NOT THERE WHEN THE ITEMS ARE AWARDED, YOU WILL BE CALLED TO SET UP DELIVERY OF YOUR ITEMS. YOU WILL PAY AT THAT TIME.

If you would like to donate to Linda, but are unable to attend the benefit, you can send a check made out to Byron Bank, to 1963 Baldwin, Jenison, MI 49428. Please put "benefit for Linda Tacoma" in the memo line.

If you have any questions, you can leave them here in a comment, or e-mail me at dougandkerrisweeris@hotmail.com

Thanks!

Correct auction list so far

Hey everyone,

I have a new auction list that has all of the items on it that have been confirmed. The numbers by the items will correspond to the items at the auction. Each dining table will have a list by it, as will the auction table.

When you arrive, you will sign in to receive a number to bid in the auction. For example, if you are the 5th person to sign up, you will receive number 5. Then, in front of each auction item, there is a sheet to use for bidding. There are 2 columns on the sheet, one for your bidding number (which would be 5) and the 2nd column for the amount you want to bid on.

So say the number you received upon signing in was 38, and you wanted to bid $25.00 on the pink and white decorative wreath. So you write your auction number, 38 in the first column, and $25.00 in the second column, on the bid sheet for the pink and white wreath. An hour later you check back and someone has bid $30.00. You REALLY want this wreath, so you put your number down again, and bid $35.00. A nd so on and so forth. It wll make more sense when you see the sheets.

But anyway. Here is the updated list:

WOW

Hey everyone,

WOW, WOW, WOW is all I can say. The generosity of people is overwhelming. On top of all the wonderful things that are already coming out of this benefit, it has renewed some of my hope in mankind. People are giving so selflessly, so generously, sometimes at quite a cost or sacrifice to them. Thank you in advance for a tremndous outcome.

Our original goal was $4500.00, but I think we will go way above and beyond that. We are already getting donations in the account set up for Linda, and we are hearing of TONS of people who are coming to the benefit.

Please check out the latest version of the silent auction list....there are MORE items!
Thanks!

ALSO, we have a bid of $60.00 for the manicure & pedicure at Studio One

FOR THOSE OF YOU GOING TO THE AUCTION, THERE WILL BE A COMPLETE NUMBERED LIST OF THE AUCTION ITEMS AT EACH DINING TABLE. THE NUMBERS ON THE LIST AT THE DINING TABLES WILL CORRESPOND TO THE NUMBERS OF THE ITEMS ON THE AUCTION TABLES. THE NUMBERS ON THE LISTS MAY OR MAY NOT CORRESPOND WITH THE BLOG NUMBERS.

Grandville in Wal-Mart on Kenowa (along with 44th Street @ Clyde Park)

Jenison on Baldwin (along with Standale & Allendale, both on Lake Michigan Dr, and Hudsonville on Port Sheldon)

ALSO: Just want to make sure that people understand that there is NO MINIMUM BID on any auction item. The retail price is simply what the item would sell for in a store. Give as generously as YOU can....every penny will go to Linda because everything was 100% donated!
Please don't NOT bid on something because you feel your bid is too small. Every dollar we make will help Linda.

Thanks, and have a terrific day!

Also, we have all the pop we need. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

We are getting SO many donations from businesses as well as individuals. Someone donated a $50.00 gift certificate from Outback Steakhouse!

HUGE PROPS to Subway on 28th and Breton, Byron Center, and Jenison (maybe one more) for donating almost ALL the subs! PLEASE give them your business.

That's all for now...more later!
P.S. Linda had a GREAT day today that included lunch with her sister and the "best pedicure she's ever had! Please keep her in your prayers. We are hoping to see her tomorrow.

Pop and baked goods

Good morning.

There have been some changes made to the silent auction list on the previous post, so check those out.

Also, if you are bringing 2 liters of pop or baked goods, please e-mail me or comment here so I know we have enough.

Thanks!
